Sunday 19th October - Bike-ride and Apple Day in the Donkeyfied Community Orchard.

We are joining the Friends of the Donkeyfield to celebrate apples and orchards, play games and have fun. We are hoping to bake apples in an earth oven and demonstrate how they are made, make withy sculptures, play apple cricket, drink local fresh pressed apple juice and cider. And what better way to kick-start the day (and your appetite) than with a bike-ride around Shaftesbury ending at the apple day? A gentle 12 miles with no pressure to get a sweat on! Sunday 16 November 10-3 Town Hall Open Space Discussion about Food

Following Dorset Food weeks we're holding an open space meeting for everyone to contribute their ideas about the future of food in Shaftesbury (importing it, selling it, growing it, cooking it, eating it!). We're hoping to invite speakers with knowledge of farming, and local growing. What can we do in the town? Grow more nut and fruit trees? Have more allotments? Develop community supported farming? Come to hear everyone's ideas and have your say as to what action we should take as a community.
