Theme Groups

All Transition Town Shaftesbury theme groups have been chosen based on what earlier transition towns have found successful.

If you would like to be involved in a group or any other part of the TTS movement please send an email to mail@transitiontownshaftesbury.org.uk.

This is what Totnes says about the groups they chose:

All TTT [Transition Town Totnes] theme groups have emerged from the community and many were set up as a result of the relevant Open Space days.

Each theme group covers an area which is of strategic importance to the future of Totnes. The theme group structure gives us a way of thinking about things clearly and organising our work. We know there are some areas which will need theme groups that haven't formed yet.

Most groups have a membership with regular meetings that are open for new people to join, and a contact list of interested people. From the group may come ideas for projects or events, or meetings may include a discussion of relevant topics.

One person from each group comes to the central TTT Co-ordination Team.

If you have an idea for a new project or event within TTT the best place to discuss this is with the relevant theme group. For instance, if I want to set up a tour of eco-houses in the area I would contact the Building and Housing group.

You may be part of a project that would like to link with the TTT project, or to ask for TTT to support you in some way. We recognise that there are many people doing fantastic work alongside TTT and are always keen to form partnerships with existing groups, practitioners and organisations. Please contact us to explore this. We often ask for a one page outline of what you are doing, how it relates to transition and what it is you would like from us.
